PIOSSASCO POWER STATION PLANT – WAREHOUSE

PRELIMINARY WORKS FOR INTERCONNECTION HVDC Italy – France

Piossasco’s Power Station Plant is a part of the National Electricity Network, and its main function is to convert Hight to Medium Voltage. The plant included the construction of one shed (GFA 1000sqm) that will have to hold a new warehouse for Station’s equipment.

Shed is in precast structures (columns, beams, roof and mezzanine) with cast-in-place spread foundations and sub-foundation realized with blind concrete in order to consolidate the existing weak foundation soil. Equipment are supported by RC pavings designed for heavy loads. In order to control RC cracks due to large dimensions of these pavings it has been designed a system of crack-control joints with shear connector where needed. For National Regulations the Power Station is a strategic facility, for this reason great care and additional safety factors were taken into account during Structural Design. Our Company was the lead consultant for all Civil works, including Structural design, Geotechnical design and Site Supervision.
