In Hargeisa, Somaliland, an autonomous region in northern Somalia, the Mohamed Aden Sheikh Children’s Teaching Hospital has been made: it is a hospital that will provide free health care to the Somali population. Mohamed Aden Sheikh Children Teaching Hospital is designed with a modular sustainable structure, with departments and services built alongside the old public hospital. The project involves the construction of a pediatric ward with annexes services such as kitchen, canteen, laboratory analysis, pharmacy, outpatient clinics, areas of hospitalization, isolation infectious ward and guest quarters, storage, laundry. The children’s hospital in Hargeisa, combines a modern European conception of the hospital with the cultural and constructive tradition of Somalia.

The area is about 12500 square meters and the project is focused on maximum energy savings, rationality and cost of construction, the pleasantness of the environment and on the ease of use by users and experts. The result is a set of colorful buildings that make up the hospital, connected to a single indoor corridor. Outside there is a space dedicated to the game and leisure of children
